I want to tell you about a recent downtown Chicago family session I did for an amazing family that was nothing but love and smiles.
It was Mother Teresa who said, “Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.”
This smiley little guy, at 8 months old, had such a fun, joyful personality. And his parents were just the loveliest couple, which made the photo shoot a dream. This family recently moved to Indianapolis, where Mom is originally from, in order to be close to their extended family. As sad as I am to not have them in Chicago anymore, I am so happy that they will be surrounded by all the helping hands possible. Any parent knows this, once you have children, that is invaluable. We did this shoot before they left, and it was certainly a celebration of their beautiful family and time spent living in Chicago. They love the city and hope to visit often. For the location, we chose the Goldcoast neighborhood, which is one of my favorite spots in Chicago because of the variety of backdrops we can find without having to move around too much. It has everything from cityscapes to nature and the Oak Street Beach.
Watch some of my favorite portraits from their session here:
Mom is a hobbyist photographer, which made it even more fun to chat with her about the process of photographing children, including all the challenges and rewards that come with it! I was also glad to have her in front of my camera as I know she is usually behind it!
But the best part of working with this family is that they’re in my “Client for Life” program, which means I will get to photograph them again (hopefully many times) in the future and I just cannot wait!
